The accident occurred around 5:30 a.m. in the area of 111 South Main St.

Upon arrival, officers found a 2010 Nissan Rogue and a 2022 Harley-Davidson Iron 883 that had collided with the motorcycle ended up being pinned beneath the SUV, according to police reports.

A preliminary investigation revealed that the Nissan was heading downtown when it made a left-hand turn into a business crossing into the opposite lane of travel and striking the motorcycle.

Petry was initially transported to Portsmouth Regional Hospital and later transferred to Mass General in Boston.

The driver of the Nissan was identified as Raymond Cooper, 69, of East Rochester. He was unhurt.

Petry was on his way to work when the crash occurred, according to family members.

A Strafford County Accident Reconstruction team is continuing its investigation into the crash.
