HANDS UP FOR 'JOSEPH': Much of the cast on stage for 'Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat' (Courtesy/Rochester Opera House)

"Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat," now playing at the Rochester Opera House, is a whimsical, joyful musical romp telling the biblical tale of Joseph from the Old Testament.
And while the plot serves as the genesis of the musical, the choreography, acrobatics and powerful vocal mastery of the entire cast as they dance and prance in unbridled, relentless fashion will have you standing up and cheering by the final curtain call.
Speaking for myself, it is across the board perhaps the most gifted vocal ensemble cast I have ever witnessed in my 15 years of reviewing Rochester Opera House shows.
Mike Mags is Mag-nificent in his portrayal of Joseph, with an emotional style of singing that clearly touched the audience.
Marcus Provost, who plays Jacob and the Egyptian Pharaoh, brought down the house with his bawdy performance when playing the "Elvis-styled" Pharaoh.
And Krista Farrell, who plays the ever-present narrator guiding us through the play, never misses a beat, or a note.

Just as the action is fun and frenetic, the musical genres covered in the show are often quirky, always delightful, from country to hillbilly to calypso; you never know what's coming next.
Kudos to director Jenry Towle and choreographer Brad Reinking who were able to masterfully pull off multiple epic dance scenes that included plenty of pizzazz that had the audience cheering ... and gasping!
What may have been the icing on the cake is when after Joseph and his brothers come together and resolve their differences at the end of the musical, the musical just keeps on going like they didn't want it to stop.
More dancing, more singing and more fun such that I got tired.
If you've never taken in this show before, now's the time to dive in. The production is flawless.
