ROCHESTER - A crowd of some 1,400 turned out to watch New Hampshire's first ever car soccer game at Rochester Fairgrounds in July of 2019, and Granite Staters will get another chance to watch this wildly entertaining event again at this year's Granite State Fair.
The first car soccer game in the state in six years will be played out beginning at 7 p.m. on Friday.
With bumpers being ripped off, tires wobbling on their rims and radiators hissing away, the 2019 event resembled a Demolition Derby as much as a soccer tilt.
Fairgoers will also likely see the return of the zebra-painted ref car, which put several cars in the penalty box during the 2019 tourney for either hitting another vehicle too hard or any other maneuver deemed unsafe.
Grandstand tickets are now on sale for the car soccer and other events including ATV Drag Race, Demolition Derby and School Bus Derby.
Another event not seen in many years at the fair is a Gymkhana, which features equestrian events demonstrating horsemanship through games and races.
The N Bar H Riding Club in Barrington will be among those participating.
The Granite State Fair runs from Thursday to Sunday this week and next.
