Driver of box truck hurt after veering of I-95, crashing into trees

NORTH HAMPTON - One person was hurt following a box truck crash on Interstate 95 in North Hampton on Sunday.

The crash occurred around 9:30 a.m. on Sunday when a large box truck went off the road and crashed into a tree line on I-95 southbound in North Hampton, according to a Dept. of Safety press release.

The preliminary investigation determined that the box truck was traveling southbound when it abruptly turned to the right and went off the road. The truck then went down the embankment about 50 feet and crashed into trees.

The box truck was identified as a 2014 Freightliner M2, driven by Aaron Carpenter, 42, of Providence, R.I. Carpenter was initially trapped in the truck cab, but emergency responders cut through the trees and freed him.

Carpenter was transported to a local hospital for minor injuries. The right lane of I-95 southbound was closed for around five hours while the box truck was removed.
