You can find 'little of this, little of that' at new Milton store

MILTON - Downtown Milton has a thrift store once again.

A & E Second Hand has opened up at the site of the former Helping Hands at the corner of White Mountain Highway and Garage Way.

After cleaning and sprucing up the building, Erline Perkins and her son, Ai, (pronounced as initials) who owns the shop, opened the doors some six weeks ago.

"We cleaned it top to bottom," said Perkins, who lives in Milton along with her son.

Perkins said she and her son decided to open the store, because a lot of folks around here need a thrift store in this town.

"We believe this area needs a place where people can buy affordable clothes and household goods," she said.

And what does the store have?

"A little of this, a little of that," she says.

That includes clothes, toys, knickknacks, household items, small appliances, antiques, couches, chairs, books, furniture, vacuum cleaners, even tools.

Perkins says she wants the shop to have a leaner, fresher look, so if something doesn't sell, she'll donate it and fill the space with new items.

"I like to stay organized," she said on Friday.

She said the store will accept donations, but they can't take big TVs or big appliances and they can't take beds, due to bedbug concerns.

She said folks can also donate clothes and other items if they're in decent shape.

Other than those few exceptions, folks will probably find whatever they need at A & E at a reasonable price.

"We even have a wedding dress," she said. Speaking of that, they also have cribs.
