ROCHESTER - A postscript to an exclusive story The Lebanon Voice brought you last July.

A Rochester woman police say gave a quantity of heroin to a Rochester man last June that resulted in his death has been indicted.

Jennifer Harriman, 33, of 141 Flagg Road, Gonic, faces up to life in prison if convicted. The charge is the dispensing of a controlled drug, heroin, that resulted in death.

The story of Jason Danner, known as "Captain Redbeard" by his friends, and his decade-long battle with heroin addiction, was poignantly told by his mom, Debbi Danner.

Jason Danner overdosed from the heroin on June 23. Doctors at Frisbie Memorial Hospital induced a coma in an effort to save him, but two days later on Wednesday, Debbi Danner was told it was hopeless and they pulled the plug on Friday. His heart stopped beating the following Monday, making for a week of misery and despair for family and friends who held vigils throughout the week in hopes he would somehow miraculously recover.

Rochester Police Capt. Gary Boudreau said on Tuesday it isn't often that police are able to develop enough evidence to charge someone with such a crime, but in this case they were. He said the last time he could remember such a charge with about two years ago, and that the suspect in that case drew considerable jail time, though not life.

The Strafford County grand jury handed down the indictments March 19. They were made public on Tuesday.

An indictment is not an indication of guilt, only that a grand jury has found sufficient evidence to warrant a trial.
