MILTON - On July 17, the Town of Milton will begin the building of the James T. Culverhouse Memorial Playground.

Culverhouse was a well-loved community member of Milton since moving here in 1985 with his wife Esther and their three sons, Jason, Matthew and Joshua.

He touched our community in so many ways with his volunteerism and his service to his community. Culverhouse served over 20 years as a member of the Milton Parks and Recreation Commission, and over 15 years as a member of the Milton Winter Carnival Committee, for many years as the chairman.

He also served more than nine years as a Milton Selectman, including several years as the board chairman. His real passion was the children of Milton. Whether it was baseball or playgrounds or kindergarten, he had a hand in all of it to make Milton a great place to raise a family and to make sure that other families felt the same way.

Although his time with us was shorter than we would have liked it to be, hopefully his memory will stay alive in the town he grew to love so much, and the playground can evoke the sharing of some of those memories that will live on in our town forever,

It just so happens that July 18 was Jim's birthday which makes the date of our community build so much more special.

Milton Rec is urging anyone who would like to be a part of this wonderful community build to help memorialize Culverhouse to contact the Milton Recreation Department at 652-4501 ext. 8 or at recreation@miltonnh-us.com.

They are looking for adult volunteers to unpack and place the equipment July 17, assemble the equipment July 18 and complete the project, if necessary, on July 19.

There will also be a prebuild meeting (approximately 1-1.5 hours) prior to the build on July 7 at 6 p.m. at the Milton Town Beach Playground site.
