SOUTH LEBANON - A Lebanon man seriously injured in a motorcycle accident on Route 202 on Monday is in fair condition tonight at Maine Medical Center in Portland.

The accident occurred around noon in the area of Bigelow Road about a half mile from the 4-way stop in Rochester, according to Maine State Police Trooper John McDonald.

The operator of the motorcycle has been identified as Dennis Labrecque of Lebanon.

Labrecque, believed in his 40s, was transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland where he was undergoing surgery around noon today.

A Facebook post reported his condition on Tuesday as critical, but late this afternoon it was upgraded to fair, according to a hospital nursing supervisor.

Details of the accident are sketchy at this time, but it appears traffic was backed up due to the holiday weekend and Labrecque was trying to brake for a car in front of him, clipped its rear end and was thrown about 30 feet into the woods, McDonald said.

Labrecque was on his Harley Fat Boy when the crash occurred. He was not wearing a helmet, McDonald said.
