ACTON - A Sanford man surrendered to authorities today in the hit-and-run earlier this morning that took the life of a former Old Orchard Beach man walking along Route 109 in Acton.

Cameron White, 20, surrendered to authorities around 9 a.m. for leaving the scene of a motor vehicle crash that resulted in the death of Kenneth Allen, 50.

White was charged with vehicular manslaughter. His 2001 light blue Dodge Stratus was towed to the sheriff's office for additional examination. White is being held at the York County Jail on $25,000 bail pending his arraignment next week in York County Superior Court.

Sheriff's Deputies got the call around 12:40 a.m. for an accident near Willy's Ale House and located two witnesses that reported Allen had just left the tavern and was walking north on Route 109 when he was struck by a small automobile that was also traveling north. The impact caused damage to the passenger side of the vehicle, a YCSO press release stated.
