LEBANON - A windswept rain toppled a few trees through the overnight Wednesday, knocking out power to a small amount of residences in the Depot Road, Gully Oven Road and New Bridge Road areas of town.
A dispatcher for Central Maine Power said only a "small" number of customers had lost power.
Lebanon Road Commissioner Larry Torno said around 9:30 a.m. today town road crews were en route to remove a tree that had fallen on New Bridge Road.
Residents below where the tree fell about 150 feet from the four-way stop were trapped this morning unable to get to work or school as live electrical wires dangled from the tree making safe passage impossible.
CMP crews arrived around 8:30 a.m. and cleared the lines to allow one lane of travel around the felled tree, but it was unclear when power would be restored.
Torno said the worst of the storm is expected to develop by late morning and last throughout much of the day.
