LEBANON - For the first time ever, Trains Tavern will be open for Sunday sales of beer and alcohol tomorrow, and be open for breakfast.

Adult beverage breakfast favorites like Mimosas, Screwdrivers and Bloody Marys will be available in the morning.

The decision to allow Sunday sales of alcohol at town taverns was voted in by residents on June 10.

The tavern will open for breakfast at 9 a.m., a Trains Quickstop employee said today.

Looking back on the rough start he had with the tavern, including a widely publicized beating soon after it opened and having to get temporary licenses to have live bands until last year, owner Paul Pelletier admitted it had been a long road.

“I guess it shows good things come in time,” he said today.

He said it was gratifying to hear from regulars how excited they were to be able to stop in at Trains for a beer on a Sunday.

“We’re excited that all these area people, our regulars, everyone’s excited about Sundays,” he said. “Sunday’s a day people like to come out and relax, watch NASCAR or maybe a football game, or maybe sit out on our patio.”

The patio, where patrons can drink and smoke, also has a horseshoe pit.

Pelletier said he envision the tavern staying open on Sundays till around 7 p.m.

He said he expects to have a great turnout for the weekly Sunday breakfasts and all day long.
