ROCHESTER - Rochester Police are on the lookout for a young man who walked into a city barber shop in broad daylight Tuesday morning, took money from the register and brandished a knife when confronted by the owner before fleeing with the cash.

Police say the robbery took place around 7:30 a.m. at Lou’s barber shop on North Main Street in the downtown, and that the owner was the only one in the shop at the time.

Rochester Police Capt. Gary Boudreau said the suspect fled on foot up River Street toward Chestnut.

No one was hurt in the robbery, said police, who noted that the robbery wasn’t called in until around 8:15 a.m.

“The victim chose to wait to make the report,” Boudreau said today.

The suspect is described as a white male with a dark complexion, in his early 20s and about 5-4 to 5-8 in height. He had dark hair and wore a sweatshirt with the hood pulled up, Boudreau said.

Boudreau said the victim did not recognize the suspect.

Anyone with information on the robbery is asked to contact Rochester Police.
