ROCHESTER - Ruth E. Young, 96, formerly of 220 Pickering Road died Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at Colonial Hill Center after a period of failing health.

She was born Nov. 7, 1917 in Saugus, Mass. the daughter of the late Walter H. and Edna F. (Osborne) Wood. She graduated from Rochester High School and William Penn College in Oskaloosa, Iowa.

Mrs. Young worked as a bookkeeper for Jenness and Jenness Insurance Company and Great Elm Farm, the family business. She was a longtime member of the First United Methodist Church of Rochester and Cocheco Grange. She enjoyed knitting but most of all spending time with her family.

The widow of George A. Young who died in 2004 she is survived by sons, Robert A. Young and wife Darla of Rescue, Calif., John Young and wife Laura of Rochester; daughter, Beverly Weber of Hardin, Mont., several grand and great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren; brother, Walter Wood of Fla. She was predeceased by brother, Edward Wood and sister, Marion Drury.
