Audience members cut a rug during 8-Track at ROH

ROCHESTER - The stars of 8-Track were the singers who took folks of a certain age back to the '70s unique musical stylings, but the ones who really "brought it" last night were audience members who strutted their stuff on a makeshift disco dance floor complete with lights and steam as the songs and memories came wafting back in nostalgic waves.

Without a doubt the three moments that stand out are cast members grabbing a gaggle of audience members and giving them a quick Hustle tutorial which they performed admirably, Jerard-James Craven and the whole troupe in their startling and brave rendition of Queen's daunting Bohemian Rhapsody and the last 20 minutes of the show when players gave up the disco stage altogether and fans of the '70s and those who lived it grinded hips and pelvises that will have orthopedic surgeons shout with glee and yelling "job security."

When the two-hour show ended around 9:30, the fun was still in high gear as cast members grabbed family members from the audience and danced a few turns as other diehard dance robots refused to feel their ages, at least not till the next day.

A cash bar, disco dance floor, smoke and lighting gave the always-intimate Rochester Opera House and extra clubby feel.

8-Track continues through Jan. 31 at the Rochester Opera House. For more info go to http://rochesteroperahouse.com.
