Rochester man nabbed in Dover car break-ins

DOVER, N.H. - A Rochester man was arrested on Sunday in a string of motor vehicle break-ins in Dover, N.H., in the Spruce Lane neighborhood of that city.

Michael Hilber, 28, of 43 Stillwater Circle, Rochester, has been charged with two counts of theft, both misdemeanor level offenses, and possession of a controlled drug, also a misdemeanor.

During the early morning hours the night of his arrest, Dover Police officers responded to Spruce Lane to investigate a report of suspicious activity. While investigating, a person fled the area on foot and was quickly located with the assistance of the Rochester Police K9 unit. Hilber was arrested without incident.

His bail was set at $2,500 personal recognizance and he will be arraigned next month in the Seventh Circuit Court - Dover District.

As a result of the investigation numerous items were recovered, some of which were confirmed as stolen.

However, there are a number of items that appear to have been stolen, but have not been reported. As such, the Dover Police Department urges people who have recently had items stolen from vehicles and have not yet reported those thefts to contact the police department at 603-742-4646.
