DOVER, N.H. - A Rochester man has been indicted on felony charges he was in possession of the drug fentanyl.

David Brown, 30, of 12 Seasons Lane, was arrested on April 12 for allegedly having less than one gram of the drug in his possession.

Fentanyl is a potent, synthetic opioid analgesic that is often combined with heroin or taken separately and has been blamed in many recent deaths resulting from drug overdoses in New Hampshire and Maine.

The Special Felony is punishable by up to 7 years in prison and a $100,000 fine.

The Strafford County grand jury indictments were handed down on Sept. 17 and released last week.

An indictment is not an indication of guilt, only that enough evidence has been gathered to warrant a trial.
