Rochester man indicted in Oct. break-in spree

DOVER, N.H. - A Rochester man has been indicted in a prolific string of house burglaries last October that reached from Rochester to New Durham to Lee.

Daniel Sterritt, 46, of 23 Dodge St., has been formally charged with multiple burglaries on three different days and will now face trial in Strafford County Superior Court.

Sterritt allegedly committed the burglaries with an accomplice, Sean Laughton of Somersworth.

The pair allegedly struck first on Oct. 15 when they are said to have broken into Sixth Street, Dover; and Steppingstone Road, Lee, residences.

Then on Oct. 17 they allegedly broke into homes in Durham, on Durham Point Road and Deer Meadow Road; and a house on Middle Road in Dover.

Finally, on Oct 23, they are charged with burglary of a house on Betts Road in Rochester, and an attempted burglary on Milton Road in Rochester.

All seven counts are Class B felonies, which can result in 3 and a half to 7 years in state prison apiece.

Sterritt is being housed at the Strafford County Jail, while Laughton is out on bail.

January's grand jury indictments were handed down Jan. 15 and released earlier this week.

An indictment is not an indication of guilt, only that a grand jury has decided there is enough evidence to move forward to trial.
