Rochester man arrested in Portland St. DWI crash

ROCHESER - A Rochester man was arrested for driving drunk on Sunday after his and another vehicle collided on Portland Street.

Robert Hoitt, 72, of Rochester, was charged with DWI soon after the accident, which sent another Rochester man to the hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

Police responded to the crash in the area of Windjammers Restaurant around 8:15 p.m. and found that Ellison Hancock of Rochester was traveling east on Portland Street driving a Toyota Tundra, when a Chevrolet 1500 pickup truck driven by Hoitt pulled out of Wallace Street in the path of Hancock.

Both vehicles suffered front end damage and were towed from the scene.

Hoitt was released on personal recognizance bail with an arraignment later this month.
