Moose Mountains Regional Greenways (MMRG) and the Farmington Conservation Commission have teamed up for a free presentation called “The Many Moods of Moose” from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the Old Town Hall, 531 Main St, Farmington.

Writer, lecturer, and wildlife biologist Eric Orff will show photos and speak from his 30 years of experience with moose. Audience questions will be welcomed, and light refreshments will be served.

Since retiring from the NH Fish & Game Dept in 2007, Orff has been working as a consultant for the National Wildlife Federation and writes weekly “NH Nature Notes” available on www.nhfishandwildlife.com. On this occasion, he will share personal tales of the various temperaments of moose he has encountered and inform us about challenges to the survival of the moose population in New Hampshire. Moose numbers in the state have declined nearly 50 percent in just over a decade due to several factors, including loss of habitat.

Preregistration is helpful for event planning but not required. For more information and to register, please call MMRG Education Coordinator Kari Lygren at (603) 978-7125 or email info@mrg.com or contact the Farmington CC at reelfixnh@yahoo.com. The Farmington CC, comprised of town volunteers, works to acquire and conserve town open spaces and waterways.

The event is sponsored by Taylor Rental of Farmington.
