Police: Vacationer walking on Rt. 11 when fatally struck

SANFORD - A Sanford man has been arrested in connection with a fatal pedestrian accident in Limerick earlier this month.

William George, 41, was picked up by deputies around 9 p.m. on Wednesday on charges of operating a motor vehicle after suspension and an accident with death resulting.

John Mullin, 47, of Wilmington, Mass., died from injuries when allegedly struck by George's vehicle while walking on Route 11 on July 4.

Sheriff's deputies called to the scene were told a pedestrian had been hit by a driver who fled. Mullin was found unconscious on the ground.

Mullin had been in Maine on vacation.
