ROCHESTER - The pair arrested in a brutal baseball bat attack on a couple staying at the Hi Vu Motor Inn in December have been indicted.

Tyler Janvrin, 22, of 16 Summer St., Dover, and Damon Austin, 33, of 43 Congress St., Rochester, have both been charged with second degree assault, burglary and a host of other charges in connection with the alleged attack, which occurred on Dec. 22 around 2 a.m.

Both suspects were listed as living at 43 Congress St. in Rochester at the time of the arrests.

Court documents say Austin hit the male victim in the back with a baseball bat causing injury. They say Janvrin hit the female in the head and arm with a baseball bat, and that he also shot her in the head with several rounds from a BB-gun, causing laceration.

The suspects fled the scene before police arrived, but were both arrested the next day.

Both Janvrin and Austin face seven and a half to 15 years in prison on felony burglary charges and three and a half to seven years on second degree assault charges.

Janvrin also faces misdemeanor criminal mischief charges for damaging walls at the motel with the baseball bat and BB-gun.

Janvrin was also indicted as a felon in possession of a deadly weapon - the baseball bat - having been convicted in 2012 of armed robbery in Strafford County Superior Court.

Police say the incident was not a random act and that the two suspects were known by the victims.

The Strafford County grand jury indictments were handed down Sept. 19 and released on Tuesday.

An indictment is not an indication of guilt, only that enough evidence has been shown to warrant a trial.
