LEBANON - A New Hampshire man with some 30 years of firefighting experience is expected to take the reins at Lebanon Fire after current chief Skip Wood's expected retirement in January.

Mark Munroe, of Chester, was unanimously approved to fill the position on Monday, said Lebanon Selectman Paul Philbrick today.

The Lebanon Voice has learned there were three finalists who were interviewed for the position. About 18 applicants from all over the country applied, Philbrick said.

According to Munroe's Facebook Page, he currently works as an assistant chief for the South Hampton (NH) Fire Department.

An Internet search also shows Munroe has an employment history with the Chester Fire Department and Massport.

Efforts to contact Munroe were unsuccessful today.
