MILTON - Milton's new town administrator has deep ties to the area and said on Thursday she's looking forward to getting to know even better the town and people she likes so much.

Heather Thibodeau, 47, currently the town administrator of Ashland, was hired on Tuesday and will begin her new duties in Milton in August.

"I like the town of Milton, I've spent time in Milton in the summer for many years," Thibodeau said. "I have friends in town and my daughter plays hockey in Rochester, so I spend a lot of time in that general vicinity."

Although Ashland is less than half the size of Milton, she said the towns have distinct similarities as well, such as being run by a board of selectmen, though theirs is a five-person board.

"Every town has a unique personality, and I like Milton's," she said. "It's a close community and a great little community."

Thibodeau, who lives in Newmarket, said her family often travels to Milton during the summer to go boating in Milton Three Ponds, putting in at Everetts Cove Marina in Lebanon.

Milton will hold an open house where residents can meet their new town administrator at 6 p.m. at Town Hall on June 28.
