ROCHESTER - Mabel Louise Crout-Hamel, 77, died Saturday, December 3, 2016, in her home after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born on January 17, 1939, in Acton, Maine, the daughter of Lillian and Everett Langley.
Survived by her husband of 58 years, Robert Crout-Hamel, three children, Andrew R. Crout-Hamel, his wife Linda and their two daughters, Sarah and Ashley; Vincent M. Crout-Hamel, his wife Diana; daughter Sandra L. Flynn, husband Michael, their three daughters, Julie, Robin, and Erin, and one great grandson, Michael. Her brother Clarence Langley, wife Madeleine; sisters, Phyllis Daigneow and Georgiana Reed, husband Earl; and nieces and nephews. Mabel is predeceased by her parents, her brother, Laurence Langley and great grandson Gregory.
A homemaker, Mabel retired from Davidson Rubber in 2002 after 23 years. She owned and operated Mabel's Ceramics for 20+ years, teaching classes, winning numerous awards to include Ribbons from the Rochester Fair. In addition to her ceramics, Mabel enjoyed knitting, donating booties and hats to newborns at the hospital, crocheting, and all kinds of crafts.
