COPYRIGHT2017© MILTON - Luella Snyder was remembered on Tuesday as a tireless advocate for the children of Milton.

"Her obit said she was a Friend of Nute, but she was a friend of Milton," said Larry Brown, who worked with her on the Budget Committee and the ZBA.

Snyder, 70, known by many as just "Lue," lost her battle with cancer on Thursday, according to her obituary.

She moved to Milton from New York while a student and graduated from Nute High, Class of 1965.

As an adult her focus remained on the children of Milton and the schools they attended.

One of Lue's proudest endeavors was being a member of the Friends of Nute and working to restore and improve the historic Nute High School, according to her obit.

"Lue was probably the biggest person for being a child advocate," said former selectman Bob Bridges, who worked with her on the rec committee. "She cared about the kids, that was her life. She would do everything she could for the kids."

Bridges remembered her as someone he admired for being a straight talker.

"She was a go-getter," Bridges said. "She could hold a conversation with anybody on any subject, and you could tell she was very versed in what she was speaking to. She always had her facts together."

"Lue may have moved here from New York, but she acquired a New England personality," Brown added. "She was an independent person with strong opinions and no malice."

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Lue's name to Friends of Nute: Care of SAU64, 18 Commerce Way, Milton, NH, 03851.
