The Lebanon Voice broke new circulation ground in June and early July surpassing all previous readership records.

We had more than 14,000 unique visitors in June. And July, which is often a slow month for readership due to vacations and family outings, is staying strong, with nearly 1,500 daily visits.

On July 2, we had an incredible 1,999 visits. On that day The Voice ran a column by roving raconteur columnist CO Jones, a story on a Rochester robbery arrest, a story on a Sanford food pantry benefit organized by the Vietnam Veterans Association of Sanford and an area trio charged with shoplifting crimes.

What we’re finding is that when a big news story breaks we take on huge number of new readers, and the new readers stay because they like the paper.

Hard to believe the newspaper is only two years and two months old.

But let’s go back to the numbers. In June we had 14,165 unique visitors, with a daily visit average of 1,469. So far in July, the daily average is 1,499. That is incredible for a summer month.

For some perspective on the numbers, last August we had 7,032 unique visitors, so in less than a year, we’ve more than doubled in size. Wow!

And all we can say is thank you, thank you, thank you.

If you need a good summer job, we have openings in reporting and advertising. If you’d like to learn the online newspaper business from the ground up – and make some money to boot – give us a call.
