ROCHESTER - John H. Carpenter, 87, of Rochester, died at the Rochester Manor on Monday, May 15, 2017, after a period of failing health. Born in Rochester, N.H., on December 27, 1929, he was the son of Herbert and Edrie Carpenter.
He was a lifelong resident of Rochester. After graduating from Spaulding High School and serving in the Korean War, John worked for Verizon until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of the Masons since 1960. He was also an officer in the Cold Spring Cemetery Association for many years.
Survivors include his wife, Cynthia Carpenter; a daughter, Jan Maxfield and her husband David; a son, John Carpenter; grandson, Justin Carpenter and step-children: K.C. St Clair and his wife Sara; Brenda Niland; Sharon Harris and her husband, Larry; Carol Stark and her husband, Joe; James St Clair; Kelly Bilodeau and her husband, Romeo and many grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son Brad; a sister Evelyn Canney and daughter in-law, Angi Carpenter.
