The Granite State Choral Society will be holding its inaugural Yard Sale benefit on Saturday, July 19 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the parking lot of the First United Methodist Church, 34 S. Main Street in Rochester.

This yard sale will help raise money to purchase new women’s concert attire for Granite State Choral Society’s 40th Anniversary Gala. If folks have items they would like to donate, contact Laura Lundborn at 603-332-8348, or llundborn@hotmail.com

GSCS will commemorate its 40th Anniversary Season with a performance of Handel’s Messiah.  Rehearsals will begin Sept. 7 with concerts on December 13 and 14. Rehearsals for Spring 2015 begin January 18 and will feature the premiere of a commissioned choral work for GSCS by Grammy nominated composer Nicholas White.  This five movement piece will highlight historic persons, events and landmarks of Rochester using original text written specifically for the work. A gala concert and dinner fund-raiser will be held at the Governor’s Inn on March 28, 2015 with Mr. White in attendance.

The Granite State Choral Society is a non-auditioned community chorus dedicated to presenting quality choral performances, ranging in styles from classics to Broadway, and to promoting the appreciation of the choral arts. The members come from all walks of life from ages 12 and up, and range from experienced singers to novices just discovering the joys of choral singing.
