ROCHESTER - Police said on Friday they've received a preliminary autopsy report in the death of bang n jane drummer Jim Unfonak, but those results will not be immediately available as they are part of the investigation into who and what may have caused his death.

Rochester Police Capt. Gary Boudreau also indicated that while there were multiple adversarial parties present when Unfonak, 44, suffered a fatal blow outside Gary's Sports Bar, but only one combatant was involved in the actual physical confrontation that led to his death.

Boudreau added that an active investigation was still in progress but would not speculate on what charges might be forthcoming and against whom. He also noted that while the Attorney General's Office is involved with the case, there is no guarantee that it will be taking it over.

Meanwhile, a Go Fund Me account has been set up to help with the funeral costs for the longtime popular drummer for renowned Seacoast band bang n jane. Band vocalist Mike Frampton on his Facebook Page has said the band is done doing shows.

"There will be no more shows, bang n jane has lost its drive and one of its founding members, jimmy was bang n jane," he said on Monday, a day after Unfonak was left brain dead from the fight. Unfonak was taken off life support later that day.

Rochester Police first responded to Gary's Sports Bar on Milton Road at 1:33 a.m. last Sunday for a report of a man assaulted who needed medical attention.

According to sources close to the incident, Unfonak, whose band wasn't playing, got into an altercation with an individual at Gary's Sports Bar on Milton Road Saturday night. The individual and his friends left after being escorted out by bouncers, but at least one from the group and perhaps more, waited outside for Unfonak, then jumped him as he left the bar and went to get in his car.

Rochester Police told The Lebanon Voice on Tuesday that police have interviewed several area men involved in the altercation but are continuing to process any and all other evidence, including evidence seized from the scene, thought to include any and all surveillance images from cameras in and around Gary's Sports Bar.

The Go Fund Me account was set up by a relative of Unfonak and as of today had already raised a little more than $1,810.
