MILTON - The Milton Women’s Club will present “Cows and Communities: How the lowly bovine has nurtured N.H. through four centuries” on Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. at the Community Church on Steeple Street.

Steve Taylor will lead the public discussion.

Cattle were essential to the survival of the earliest New Hampshire settlements. Their contributions have been central to the life and culture of the state ever since.

From providing human dietary sustenance to basic motive power for agriculture, forestry and transport, bovines have had a deep and enduring bond with their keepers.

Just where are New Hampshire’s cows today and what are they doing? Taylor provides some interesting – and sometimes surprising – answers.

The program is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

The Milton Women’s Club is able to provide this forum thanks to a grant from the New Hampshire Humanities Council.
