Electrical fire closed down Rochester bank

ROCHESTER - An electrical fire closed the North Main Street Citizens Bank branch on Monday.

A fire alarm activation around 11:40 a.m. drew a swift response from the fire department's nearby headquarters, and the fire was quickly contained to a basement electrical panel.

Although it never spread, smoke continued to spew from the panel until power was shut off to the building by Eversource.

The bank was closed for the day and will be temporarily closed until necessary cleanup and repairs can be made.
