Dover protege Pampreen is GSCS pianist for new season

Granite State Choral Society is excited to announce the appointment of Philip Pampreen as their rehearsal and performance accompanist for the coming 2016-2017 season.

"I could not be more thrilled to welcome this young man to our organization," says Dr. Daniel Roihl, Director of Music for GSCS. "His radiant personality, versatile musicianship, and considerable talent will not only make for a substantial contribution to our performances, but make our rehearsals all the more rewarding as well. I am very excited that the singers and I will have the opportunity to collaborate with him in sharing the gift of music with this community."

Philip Pampreen, 17 and a resident of Dover, has been playing the piano for 10 years. In order to pursue music more, Pampreen receives a homeschool education. He has been taking piano lessons from Paul Dykstra for seven years and organ lessons from Bruce Adami for four years. Pampreen takes advantage of his homeschool schedule to perform on both the piano and the organ during the spring and summer. He has performed several joint recitals with Young Organist Collaborative students Richie Gress and Clayton Jacques and performed with Roric Cunningham and Richie Gress in the opening concert of the 2016 Methuen Musical Hall Summer Series.

He is the sacred music director, organist, and choir director of his home church. He also works as a substitute organist in various churches throughout New Hampshire.

Philip's favorite composers are Bach, Handel, Mendelssohn, and Haydn. He loves sacred hymns and the great choral music of the past. He spends his free time composing music and studying works such as the Messiah, the Creation, Christus, and the Bach Cantatas. He knows them by heart and works to one day compose such music. Philip is planning to major in music studies in college.

"We are delighted that Philip has accepted the position with us this coming season," stated Elizabeth Tonkins-Agea, GSCS President. "His musical abilities, knowledge and willingness to share and learn highly impressed the Board. These qualities, along with his wicked sense of humor, will be wonderful additions to GSCS."

Granite State Choral Society is a non-auditioned community chorus dedicated to presenting quality choral performances, ranging in styles from classics to Broadway, and to promoting the appreciation of the choral arts. The members come from all walks of life from ages 12 and up, and range from experienced singers to novices just discovering the joys of choral singing.
