LEBANON, Maine - Dorothy Jean Crombie Jackson, age 78 of 146 West Lebanon Road, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, June 30, 2015.
Dorothy was born January 29, 1937, in Boston, Mass., the daughter of George and Elsie Crombie. She graduated from Norton High School in Norton, Mass., as well as from an office business school as a comptometer operator. She was employed by Brown and Sharpe Manufacturing in Providence, R.I. She met and married Milton Jackson in 1956 and shared in his military travels until his retirement in 1973.
Dorothy was a member of the Campfire Girls and taught Sunday school for more than 40 years. She danced and played her tambourine as a volunteer at Newton Center Nursing Home in Sanford, Maine for 26 years with her husband and musician friends. She loved and cared for God's creatures, great and small all of her life.
She is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Milton Jackson; two daughters Jean Hobart and her husband Kevin of Berwick, Maine, and Jennifer Greenlaw and her husband Patrick of Lebanon, Maine; a brother Ronald Crombie of Hawaii; grandchildren Patrick Greenlaw Jr. of Irving, Texas, Alex Greenlaw of Rochester, N.H., Katie Couture and husband Curtis of Seabrook, N.H., Courtney Greenlaw of Dallas, Texas, and Megan Hobart of Beverly, Mass.; great grandchildren Addison Greenlaw of Point, Texas and Liam Greenlaw of Rochester, N.H.; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Dorothy is predeceased by her brother George S. Crombie of Belle Isle, Fla.
