Donation drive to stuff the bus set for Sept. 20

At Cocheco Valley Humane Society, we often remind people that the cost to adopt an animal does not typically cover the cost to care for that animal during its stay at the shelter. Like all animal shelters, we rely on donations from the community. Beyond pet food, we are always in need of items like paper towels, trash bags, bleach, and, of course, cat litter.

To help collect much needed items for the shelter animals, our staff members have organized a Stuff the Buss donation drive with the Dover Petco. On Saturday, Sept. 20, CVHS staff members will be at Petco from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a full size school bus collecting items from our wish list. Our goal is to fill the bus with food, litter, toys, leashes, cleaning supplies, and more. Many of the items on our wish list can be purchased directly from Petco.

In addition to the donation drive, we will have many adoptable animals with us onsite. Supporters are encouraged to bring their own pets to the store to take a special photo in our photo booth, all proceeds from which benefit the shelter. Red Ruff, the canine mascot of Petco, will also be onsite for meet and greets and photos.

Donation drives like Stuff the Bus help the shelter care for more than 2,000 animals each year. Every donation is truly appreciated. In addition to Stuff the Bus, donated items can be dropped off at the shelter or left in the CVHS donation bin at the Dover Petco.
