ROCHESTER - The Friends of the Rochester Public Library and the Rochester Museum of Fine Arts are planning a dual event at the Rochester Public Library for April 8 from 1:30-3:30 p.m.

The Friends will be hosting the first annual Dessert Competition "Sweet Art," and the museum will be honoring artist Daniel Anselmi, in the Carnegie Gallery, with a small reception.

The dessert competition is open to local bakers and the public is encouraged to attend. The cost is $5 to purchase a ticket to be a judge or competitor. Tickets are limited and can be purchased at the library during regular business hours.

Artist Daniel Anselmi was a Monhegan Artists Residency Fellow in 2013. He has shown in juried exhibitions including the University of Maine Triennial, University of New England, Portland Public Library, Cambridge Art Association's Northeast Prize Show, and CMCA. His work has also been in five solo exhibitions and included in 24 group exhibitions. This is Anselmi's first exhibition with the Rochester Museum of Fine Arts.

This is the first time the Friends of the Rochester Public Library and the Rochester Museum of Fine Arts have worked together to host an event. The two parties expect to draw more visitors into the library with the concurrent art show and dessert competition. The Rochester Public Library is located at 65 South Main Street in downtown Rochester, NH. Visit www.rochestermfa.org for more information.
