And you thought Tom Brady couldn't tackle

In a game that saw few giving the Washington Redskins any chance at even mounting a challenge, two things stand out.

First, why the onside kick?

I have never seen such a move by the team that is the heavy favorite that is in the lead, only the huge underdog who must resort to trickery to even have a chance.

That wasn't the case on Sunday.

If Washington gets that fumble and finds a receiver who can actually catch a football and scores a tying touchdown, it could be a different game.

Remember, the 'Skins defense played the Patriots tough for the majority of that game, and their offense squandered a jumbotron full of opportunities.

Second, why does Tom Brady, who is having a career year with pinpoint passing and near-perfect execution, risk life and limb solo tackling a Reskins cornerback who is collecting blockers as he rumbles downfield after an interception.

Brady saved a touchdown, but Pats nation had to have been breathing a collective sigh of relief when No. 12 dove at the legs of the Redskins player bringing him to the ground, and then got up unharmed.

Just so you know that wasn't the first time Brady ever tackled a cornerback who had just intercepted him. He did it a few years ago against Carlos Rogers and the 49ers.

That tackle also saved a touchdown as San Fran fumbled two plays later, but eventually won the game.

But what is most perplexing about yesterday is that backup QB Jimmy Garrapalo is not getting any chance to play at garbage time at the end of some of these lopsided games, except for taking a knee, that is.

Against Miami and now Washington he should've been in there for at least one set of meaningful downs at the end of both games.

Don't get me wrong. I know Bill Belichick's a genius.

Just - you know - Monday morning stuff.

Btw, next up, guess who, you're right, the New York football Giants.
