MILTON - Milton's newest selectman said today that while he knows he'll be on a steep learning curve for some time, he'll remain focused from the get-go on moving the town forward in a positive direction.

"The key is teamwork," Ryan Thibeault said, referring to how best selectmen can conduct the business of the town. "We have to work as a group."

Thibeault won the slot vacated by former selectmen chair Tom Gray in a landslide win on Thursday with more than 60 percent of the town vote, splitting the rest between budget committee member Thomas McDougall (16 percent) and Larry Brown (23 percent), who serves on several town boards.

A political newcomer and fairly recent home buyer in the town, Thibeault ran on a platform focused on the Board of Selectmen "regaining the trust and respect from the townspeople in order to move forward in a positive direction."

Thibeault said as far as any specific policy goals, he's taking it one step at a time, adding his only priority right now is to make sure government follows the rules, procedures and policies the town already has in place.

Thibeault's first selectmen's meeting is set for tonight at 6 p.m. when the first order of business will be his swearing-in ceremony.
