'About as New England as clam chowder, flour biscuits'

COPYRIGHT2017© LEBANON - A renowned and revered regional magician and an up-and-coming and critically acclaimed Maine roots and blues band will highlight the entertainment for tomorrow's Lebanon Festival, but the tastiest portion of the event - at least for kids - will likely be a free ice cream social.

The Fourth Annual Lebanon Festival will have something for everyone, promised festival chairman Melissa Cyr today.

The festival gets under way at 7 a.m. with a pancake breakfast in the Hanson School gym, which is next to the soccer fields where the festival will set up. The Hanson School is located at 56 Upper Guinea Road in Lebanon.

The ice cream social, which is free for kids but costs a small fee for adults, runs from 10 a.m. to noon.

If anyone is interested in working off their sundaes they can join in the 5K run at 11 a.m. Kids get their own fun run at noon.

BJ Hickman has been a favorite of kids of all ages for decades.

Other highlights include BJ Hickman's magic show from 11:15-noon, a Fire/Ems extraction demo at noon and the Hilton Park Band playing from 1-3 p.m.

Hilton Park came onto the Seacoast New Hampshire and Maine music scene in 2013, wowing local music critics with their blended harmonies, masterful acoustic and down homey New England-style bluegrass, blues and roots riffs.

They've already been nominated for several New England Music Awards and won Best in Maine in 2015.

Meanwhile, BJ Hickman has been performing for decades as the region's premier magician, a ubiquitous entertainer at schools and birthday parties all over New Hampshire and Maine.

Hickman began performing on WMUR TV kids shows in the days of black and white TV, but only several years ago gave up his day job selling ads to devote his entire focus to his magic.

The festival will also feature a scavenger hunt with prizes offered to those who participate, food vendors, local authors, artisans, Lebanon organizations and free gifts and activities for children.

The library at the Hanson school will also be having a book sale and raffle.
